Automation Tester (SDB)

Job Summary

We are looking for a skilled Automation Tester with strong experience in test automation, framework development, and continuous integration and continuous delivery (CI/CD) practices. The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing, developing, executing, and maintaining automated test scripts to ensure the quality, reliability, and performance of software applications.

The candidate should have hands-on experience with automation tools such as Selenium, Tricentis Tosca, and Playwright, along with proficiency in at least one programming language, including Java, Python, or JavaScript. The role requires experience in developing reusable automation frameworks, maintaining regression test suites, integrating automated tests into CI/CD pipelines, and collaborating with cross-functional teams throughout the software development lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, execute, and maintain automated test scripts for web applications and software systems.

• Develop, enhance, and maintain scalable, reusable, and efficient test automation frameworks using Selenium, Tosca, Playwright, or other relevant automation tools.

• Create and maintain comprehensive regression test suites to validate existing functionality following application changes, enhancements, and releases.

• Identify suitable test cases for automation and prioritize automation activities based on business requirements, risk, and testing objectives.

• Develop reusable automation components, libraries, utilities, and test scripts to improve test coverage and reduce maintenance effort.

• Integrate automated test scripts into CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins, Azure DevOps, or equivalent tools.

• Configure and maintain automated test execution as part of continuous integration, build verification, and release validation processes.

• Analyze test execution results, investigate failures, identify root causes, and collaborate with development teams to resolve defects.

• Perform functional, regression, smoke, integration, and end-to-end testing as required.

• Maintain test documentation, automation scripts, test execution reports, defect logs, and traceability records.

• Collaborate with developers, business analysts, QA engineers, and DevOps teams to understand requirements and ensure effective test coverage.

• Participate in Agile ceremonies, including sprint planning, daily stand-ups, backlog refinement, and sprint reviews.

• Review application requirements and acceptance criteria to identify potential risks, test scenarios, and automation opportunities.

• Monitor and improve automation framework performance, reliability, maintainability, and execution efficiency.

• Support release readiness activities by providing test results, defect summaries, and automation coverage reports.

• Follow established testing standards, coding practices, version-control procedures, and quality assurance processes.

Required Skills and Experience

1. Test Automation Tools

• Hands-on experience with Selenium WebDriver for automated web application testing.

• Experience with Tricentis Tosca for model-based test automation.

• Experience with Playwright for modern web application automation.

• Ability to develop, execute, debug, and maintain automated test scripts using appropriate automation tools.

• Experience selecting suitable automation approaches based on application architecture and testing requirements.

2. Programming and Scripting

• Proficiency in at least one programming or scripting language:

  • Java

  • Python

  • JavaScript

• Strong understanding of programming fundamentals, object-oriented programming, data structures, exception handling, and debugging.

• Ability to write clean, modular, maintainable, and reusable automation code.

• Experience working with automation frameworks, test runners, libraries, and dependency management tools.

3. Automation Framework Development

• Experience designing, developing, and maintaining test automation frameworks.

• Knowledge of Page Object Model (POM), data-driven testing, keyword-driven testing, or hybrid frameworks.

• Experience creating reusable functions, common utilities, test data management components, and reporting mechanisms.

• Ability to troubleshoot framework issues and improve test execution reliability.

4. CI/CD and DevOps

• Hands-on experience integrating automated test suites into CI/CD pipelines.

• Experience with Jenkins, Azure DevOps, or equivalent CI/CD platforms.

• Understanding of automated build verification, scheduled test execution, pipeline triggers, and test reporting.

• Ability to investigate pipeline failures and collaborate with development and DevOps teams to resolve issues.

5. Version Control

• Practical experience using Git for source code and automation script management.

• Familiarity with repositories, branching, merging, pull requests, and version-control best practices.

• Experience collaborating with teams through GitHub, GitLab, Azure Repos, or similar platforms.

6. Regression and Functional Testing

• Strong experience designing, executing, and maintaining regression automation suites.

• Understanding of functional, smoke, integration, and end-to-end testing methodologies.

• Ability to identify stable and repeatable test scenarios suitable for automation.

• Experience validating application functionality across multiple environments and releases.

• Knowledge of defect lifecycle management, test coverage analysis, and risk-based testing.

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, or a related discipline.

• Relevant software testing or test automation certifications.

• Experience working in Agile or Scrum-based development environments.

• Familiarity with API testing tools such as Postman or REST Assured.

• Knowledge of SQL and database validation.

• Experience with cross-browser testing, test data management, and parallel test execution.

• Familiarity with test reporting tools and dashboards.

• Experience working with Jira, Azure DevOps Boards, or other test and defect management platforms.
