About the role

We are seeking a detail-oriented Manual QA Engineer to join our hybrid team in Bangalore. You will play a critical role in ensuring the quality and reliability of our web and mobile applications. In this position, you will design and execute test cases, identify defects, and collaborate closely with developers to resolve issues before release. This role is ideal for a quality-focused professional who enjoys breaking things to make them better.

Responsibilities

• Design and execute comprehensive manual test cases for new features and regression suites.
• Identify, document, and track defects using Jira, ensuring clear reproduction steps and severity levels.
• Collaborate with developers and product managers to clarify requirements and define acceptance criteria.
• Perform exploratory testing to uncover edge cases and usability issues that automated tests might miss.
• Maintain and update test documentation, including test plans, checklists, and user stories.
• Participate in sprint planning and daily stand-ups to provide quality feedback and estimate testing effort.
• Assist in setting up test environments and managing test data for consistent verification.

Required skills

• 2+ years of experience in manual software testing for web or mobile applications.
• Strong understanding of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) and Agile methodologies.
• Proficiency in writing clear and concise bug reports and test cases.
• Experience with Jira or similar issue tracking tools for defect management.
• Basic knowledge of SQL for database verification during testing.
• Familiarity with RESTful APIs and ability to use Postman for basic API testing.

Nice to have

• Experience with mobile app testing on Android and iOS devices.
• Basic understanding of Selenium or Cypress for future automation transition.
• Knowledge of performance testing tools like JMeter.
• Experience working in a DevOps environment with CI/CD pipelines.
